Fenland District Council has extended the deadline for its Call for Sites, giving everyone with a potential development opportunity more time to help shape Fenland's future.

The consultation - originally due to close on 30 April - will now remain open until Sunday 31 May 2026.

The Call for Sites is a statutory early stage in creating the new Fenland 50 Local Plan, which will guide where homes, jobs, services and infrastructure could go in Fenland up to 2050. It invites submissions for land that could help meet future needs, including but not limited to:

  • Housing
  • Employment and commercial uses
  • Retail and leisure
  • Renewable energy
  • Public open space, biodiversity and green infrastructure
  • Mixed‑use development
  • Any other land use that may support sustainable growth

If you own land, manage property, represent a community group, or simply know of a suitable site, now is the time to submit it.

Residents and organisations can also nominate Local Green Spaces that hold special community value and may merit additional protection through the Local Plan.

All potential sites must be submitted through this consultation, even if they were previously put forward under the former Local Plan.

Taking part is quick and straightforward. There's no need to appoint an agent or planning consultant at this stage - anyone can put forward a site using the simple online form. Submitting a site does not mean it will be approved for development, but ensures it can be properly assessed and considered as part of the plan-making process. Any sites proposed for inclusion will be consulted on at later stages.
