Whittlesey Neighbourhood Plan Examination and Referendum

Whittlesey Town Council is preparing a neighbourhood plan for the parish of Whittlesey. The Town Council held a formal consultation (the 'Regulation 14' consultation) on their draft neighbourhood plan during summer 2021.

Whittlesey Town Council considered all responses received during their 'Regulation 14' consultation and amended their plan as they deemed necessary. They formally submitted their neighbourhood plan to Fenland District Council in June 2022 for independent examination.

Consultation and Appointment of Examiner

A consultation under 'Regulation 16' on the submitted version of the Neighbourhood Plan ran between July 8 and September 1, 2022. A number of representations were received which have been compiled into a single document.  All responses can be read here (PDF) [3MB]

An Examiner, Mr David Kaiserman BA DipTP MRTPI was appointed by Fenland District Council and Whittlesey Town Council in September 2022 to independently examine the Neighbourhood Plan and this process has now been completed.

In his initial assessment the Examiner has asked two clarifying questions of Fenland District Council and Whittlesey Town Council which, together with responses, can be found here:

The Examiner has now issued his Final Report (PDF) [947KB] . In summary he considers the Neighbourhood Plan to meet the basic conditions required by legislation subject to the incorporation of his recommended modifications.

Whittlesey Neighbourhood Plan Referendum

Fenland District Council has issued a Decision Statement (PDF) [683KB] accepting the Examiners' recommendations and approving the Whittlesey Neighbourhood Plan for a referendum within the designated Whittlesey Neighbourhood Area.

The referendum will be held on Thursday, February 23rd 2023. For more information, visit our Whittlesey Neighbourhood Plan Referendum page.
