Official ceremony at transformed Wisbech site
An official completion ceremony was held at a Wisbech High Street site transformed from eyesore to shop with flats above by Fenland District Council.
The site known as 'The Gap' had been a problem for more than 40 years after the former Cook's Butchers collapsed.

Cllr Chris Seaton, Fenland District Council's portfolio holder for Wisbech High Street projects, said: We're proud to have taken on this complex and challenging site to make what will be a long-lasting difference to the restoration of Wisbech High Street for generations to come."
The council is in the process of finding tenants for the small ground floor shop area and the flats above.
The redevelopment was part of the Council's Wisbech High Street Project, launched in 2017 with £1.9 million from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Redevelopment has been supported with a grant from the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority's Market Towns Programme to help improve business premises on the High Street.
The project has allowed direct investment in property, grants to enable private owners to improve their buildings and heritage related community activities.

Significant repairs to other High Street buildings have included at 13-17, where derelict first floors were brought back into use. The council is working on a plan for the derelict 11-12 High Street.
