Self-Build Declaration form

Please complete this form if your proposed scheme is a self-build and/or custom-build development

To grant planning permission for self- and custom-build homes, the Council must be satisfied that the initial owner and occupier of the home will have primary input into its final design and layout. You must therefore complete this form to demonstrate how your scheme meets the definitions of self-and custom-build housing.

Please ensure you fill out all the sections and provide as much detail as possible.

The information provided through this form will be used in the determination of your planning application, and to check whether your scheme is eligible for an exemption from Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) requirements. The information provided will also be used by the Council to monitor the delivery of self- and custom-build housing.

An application for planning permission claiming self-build status should be accompanied by a signed legal agreement, setting out that it will comply with the requirements of the Self-build and Custom Housebuilding Act 2015. Failure to provide this may result in the refusal of an application claiming self-build status.

Please note there may be a charge to review the submission of a legal agreement.
