Rail passengers can talk to managers at latest 'Meet the Manager' event

Train passengers can ask rail managers and transport representatives questions about services and improvements during the latest 'Meet the Manager' event along Fenland's Hereward railway line.

Passengers using Greater Anglia, East Midlands Railway and CrossCountry services will be able to attend the event at Ely Station on Tuesday 23 April 2024 from 10am to 1pm.

Managers will be available to answer passengers' questions and listen to feedback and comments - which will help them to help continually improve the service in line with customers' priorities.

At the same time, the Hereward Community Rail Partnership (CRP) will be joined at the station by the Bittern, Wherry, East Suffolk and Meldreth, Shepreth and Foxton Lines CRPs and Visit Ely, for a showcase of attractions, things to do and great days out along the region's rail branch lines.

Beverly Bishop, Hereward Line CRP Officer, said: "We cannot wait for this latest Meet the Manager event as it will be a real showcase of all the Community Rail Partnerships working together across East Anglia to promote the region and champion sustainable rail travel.

"It will also strengthen the work that the Hereward Community Rail Partnership has already carried out with Ely's tourism experts, Visit Ely, regarding the Ely Junction upgrade. We are also looking forward to providing lots of practical advice to build confidence in travelling by rail and ideas for where to visit. Everyone is welcome."

Martin Moran, Greater Anglia's Commercial, Customer Service and Train Presentation Director, said, "It is really important to us to hear from passengers about what matters to them and answer any questions they may have.

"We are keen to listen and understand people's experiences so that we can work to continually improve our service and meet customers' expectations and needs."

David Jones, Stakeholder Manager at CrossCountry said "We are delighted to support the first Hereward CRP Meet the Manager event at Ely station.  As well as being a tourism destination Ely is a significant interchange location on our network and we want to understand from our customers what more we can do collaboratively with our Greater Anglia colleagues and Hereward CRP partners to make changing trains at Ely as easy and hassle-free as possible."

The Hereward CRP is managed by Fenland District Council in partnership with train operators, railway user groups, station adoption groups and local residents. Together, the partnership works to champion improvements to the Hereward Line, and at its stations at March, Manea and Whittlesea, and engages communities to help them get the most out of their railway.
