Polling Districts and Polling Places review

Under the 'Representation of People Act', we have a duty to:

  • divide the District into polling districts
  • designate polling places for each district
  • keep the above arrangements under review

The Electoral Registration and Administration Act (2013) introduced a change to the timings of compulsory reviews to UK Parliamentary districts and polling places. This means reviews must be completed within 16 months every 5 years.

This means our review should start (and be completed) between 1 October 2018 and 31 January 2020. It is being carried out at this time because of the District, Town and Parish elections taking place on 2 May 2019. It is also as the result of the Local Government Boundary Commission for England and Community Governance Reviews which need to be implemented for these elections.

The final recommendations were considered and agreed at Full Council on 13 December 2018.
