Background Documents: The Taxi Inspection Fee has remained almost unchanged for several years while contracting out of the service took place. Already the fee was out of step with current costs and requires an increase from £63 to cover costs. With contracting the service out the necessary overheads of continuing to provide a test option will need sharing across a much smaller number of inspections.
