Purpose:

To purchase external food waste caddies and internal kitchen caddies as required to supply Fenland's 49,000 domestic properties.

Making use of the remaining capital funding provide by Defra (c.£213,000), with a shortfall topped up with unutilised capital funds from similar areas (c.£37,000) for this purchase of food waste containers via an existing framework (ESPO).

Decision:

To purchase the required food waste containers utilising the capital funding outlined.

Reasons for the decision:

There is a statutory duty to provide a weekly food waste service to all domestic premises from 2026/27. Government has provided capital and revenue funding to support this change in law.
