To receive 25K funding from CPCA – to spend in accordance with the Grant Funding Agreement set out above.
The Cambridge and Peterborough Combined Authority have received £100k from the Ministry of Housing Communities & Local Government (MHCLG) for local authorities to help tackle homelessness and rough sleeping. The fund is linked to the council’s 25/26 Rough Sleeper prevention and Resettlement Grant.
The funding will help to support Fenland District Council’s Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy 2024 - 2029 and helps tackle moving people out of B&B and temporary accommodation quicker.
The interventions include:
· A moving on fund (to free up supported living accommodation placements) removals, basic furniture etc.
· Rent deposits to enable move on and to free up spaces in supported accommodation to enable clients rough sleeping or at risk of rough sleeping to receive support.
· Supported accommodation for homeless people/rough sleepers who are working for a period of up to 6 weeks (and are not eligible for benefits due to their income but are still unable to afford the supported accommodation charges).
· Payment towards rent arrears to enable the client to stay in situ and avoid homelessness – support and repayment plan in place with their landlord.
· Flexible prevention fund - to cover incidental costs including for example:
1. Replacement passport / identification
2. provision of a basis mobile phone to assist clients with accessing their Universal Credit.
