More free activity sessions launched in Fenland
New free fitness sessions in Fenland include a circuits session for people who want to lose weight and a beginners running class.

New opportunities from Fenland District Council's Active Fenland team also include chances to train as a wellbeing walk leader and low-cost sessions for older adults that help to build strength, balance, stamina and suppleness.
First Step Fitness
First Step Fitness is a new community healthy lifestyle programme which encourages participants to get active through beginner's circuit-based sessions, alongside weekly healthy eating and wellbeing resources and challenges.
The free 12-week course is for people aged 18 and over who consider themselves overweight or do less than 30 minutes exercise per week.
Sessions take place every Tuesday, starting September 12, from 8pm to 9pm at the Hudson Leisure Centre on Harecroft Road, Wisbech.
Booking is required via the Active Fenland booking form. If you've missed the beginning of the course don't be put off - there may still be space for you, please do complete the booking form.
Run for Fun
After successful programmes in March and Wisbech, the beginners running course Run for Fun is now launching in Chatteris. Designed for adults who consider themselves overweight or do less than 30 minutes of exercise a week, the free 12-week course offers a gentle introduction for those interested in running.
Sessions take place every Wednesday, starting September 13, from 6pm to 7pm at the Cromwell Community College in Chatteris. Please bring suitable clothing and footwear for running, as well as plenty to drink.
Booking is required via the Active Fenland booking form. If you've missed the beginning of the course don't be put off - there may still be space for you, please do complete the booking form.
Wellbeing Walks
Active Fenland coordinates wellbeing walks in multiple locations and is working to recruit and train additional volunteer walk leaders to enable even more.
The Wellbeing Walks are short, friendly, and welcoming walks which allow you to get active outdoors at your own pace but in the company of other like-minded individuals.
There are currently two weekly walks in Wisbech, two weekly walks in March, a weekly walk in Chatteris and a Whittlesey walk once a fortnight.

Walk Leader Training Course
Two free training session are available for anyone who is keen to volunteer as a Wellbeing Walk leader.
- Friday, 6 October - at Wisbech Library - 9.30am to 4pm (latest). Contact activefenlandbookings@fenland.gov.uk to register your interest. Free lunch provided.
- Wednesday, 8 November - at March Library - 9.30am to 4pm (latest). Contact activefenlandbookings@fenland.gov.uk to register your interest. Free lunch provided.

Pre-Fit
The Pre-Fit programme is a series of sessions for older adults that help to build strength, balance, stamina and suppleness to increase confidence, and become and stay more active later into life.
Sessions take place in Chatteris, Doddington, March and Wisbech with new blocks set to start in September. The programme costs £3 a session, paid in blocks, and include a hot drink afterwards.
Those looking to join must be able to stand unsupported and be able to sustain 10 minutes of activity.
parkrun
A new weekly parkrun launched in Wisbech Park last month, joining the range of events already in place across Fenland, including weekly events at West End Park in March, Manor Field in Whittlesey and the existing junior parkrun event in Wisbech Park.
The free, fun and friendly 5k community events are designed to be accessible to all, with all ability levels welcome. Participants are encouraged to walk, jog or run at a pace that suits them.
