Replacement council tax bills

Replacement council tax bills for 2023-24 are being delivered to Fenland residents following an administrative error made by Cambridgeshire County Council in the statutory information provided in the original bills.

Home and calculator

The total amount of council tax charged in your original bill was correct, and you do not need to take any action.

The error was in the breakdown of the County Council's portion of the bill. This itemises two parts, one for general council tax and one part specifically reserved for adult social care services.

The original bill should have shown that the County Council's tax increase was split 2.99% (rounded to 3% on the bill) for general council tax and 2% for adult social care services. Unfortunately on the original bills these numbers were reversed. All of the other information provided in the bills was correct.

Although these parts of the County Council's tax are required by law to be shown separately on the bill, the amount paid is calculated by combining both parts. Therefore the overall 4.99% (rounded to 5% on the bill) increase in the County Council portion of council tax is still correct and unchanged, but the county council needed to ensure the correct breakdown was provided to council taxpayers.

More information about the County Council and the part of tax bill reserved for adult social care is available on the Cambridgeshire County Council website.

The replacement council tax bill has no impact on the amount that you are due to pay and you do not need to take any further action. Cambridgeshire County Council apologises for the inconvenience and any misunderstanding caused.

If you have had a change in entitlement to any Council Tax Reduction or discount or have made any payments since 3 March 2023 these changes will be reflected in your replacement bill.
