Commemorative benches to mark The Queen's Platinum Jubilee in Fenland
Fenland District Council has honoured The Queen's Platinum Jubilee by installing the first of four new commemorative benches in the district.
The first bench marking 70 years since Her Majesty's accession to the throne was installed in St Peter and St Paul's Church gardens in Chatteris on 1 June.
Further hardwood benches will be installed in the Garden of Rest in Whittlesey, Octavia Hill in Wisbech and Trinity Church Memorial Garden in March in the next few weeks.
Chairman of Fenland District Council, Cllr Alex Miscandlon, said: "The Platinum Jubilee is a momentous occasion for the nation and residents across Fenland. These commemorative benches will add a lasting memorable touch in our district."
Cllr Peter Murphy, the Council's Portfolio Holder for the Environment, added: "Adding these beautiful pieces of street furniture in each of our towns is a great way to honour The Queen's Platinum Jubilee. I hope that they will be used and enjoyed for many years to come."
