A series of taster sessions for people to find out more about Fenland's new Ramblers Wellbeing Walks are taking place in May.
Due to previous tasters being postponed, new dates to try out the walks have now been arranged and are taking place as follows:
The taster sessions are aimed at anyone interested in becoming a trained volunteer walk leader, to find out more and ask questions about leading future Wellbeing Walks across the district, although all are welcome to come along.
Anyone interested in attending is asked to sign-up online in advance. Paper forms will be available at the taster sessions, but online sign-up is encouraged.
Fenland District Council's Active Fenland will be delivering the new walks across the district as part of the new Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Wellbeing Walks scheme, which is part of the wider national Ramblers Wellbeing Walks network.
The group walks, which will all be led by trained Ramblers volunteer walk leaders, will all be specially designed to be short (30-90 minutes) and over easy ground, so they are ideal if you've never walked before. They're a great way to meet new people and walk in good company, and to give your health and wellbeing a boost.
Cllr Sam Clark, the Council's Portfolio Holder responsible for health and leisure, said: "Even a small amount of walking can give your health and wellbeing a significant boost, so I'm delighted to see these Wellbeing Walks start in Fenland, in partnership with the Ramblers. They're the perfect way to keep active, meet new people and enjoy the pleasure of walking with like-minded walkers.
"Keep your eyes peeled for a timetable of walks launching across the district soon! If you'd like to lead a walk in your local community, we'd love to hear from you too!"
If you'd like to become a Ramblers Wellbeing Walk Leader, to lead group walks in your local community, email the Active Fenland team at: email@example.com or call 07874 893316, or pop along to one of the taster walks.
Volunteers just need to have a passion for walking, meeting new people and confidence in leading a small group. Full training and support will be provided.
