Work with us: Fenland District Council encourages local businesses to register for future contract opportunities

Fenland District Council is urging local businesses to register for a new online e-tendering portal which aims to improve access to council contract opportunities.

The Council has a number of exciting contract opportunities available now and potentially more in the future thanks to recent inward investment and future funding opportunities - and Fenland is keen to work on these projects with local businesses and Small and Medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) wherever possible.

In the coming months the Council will be implementing the ProContract e-tendering system to improve the procurement process and make it easier for local suppliers to bid for council business.

Cllr Chris Boden, Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Finance, said: "There's never been a more exciting time for businesses to work with the Council, with many shovel-ready development schemes and projects underway, and in the pipeline, thanks to funding we have already secured, and continue to work hard to attract.

"We recognise the importance of these schemes in boosting the local economy, and equally, the importance of working with the right partners to deliver them. Working with local businesses and SMEs not only brings benefits to the local community and creates local jobs but provides opportunities for them to grow their business too.

"We know that bidding for government contracts can seem overwhelming for SMEs, but we are committing to ensuring they have the same opportunities to compete for council business as their larger competitors. The new e-tendering portal will improve access to all our council opportunities and support is also available to help them become 'tender ready'."

Businesses can register for the portal now, ready for Fenland's opportunities to go live in the coming months. Visit ProContract Supplier Registration or email the Council's procurement team at:

Registration will also give businesses access to current opportunities from other Cambridgeshire authorities already visible on the portal.

Registering with ProContract will be completely free and benefits to suppliers include:

  • Set up your supplier profile and receive notifications of all opportunities which match your chosen field of expertise and preferences.
  • A single point of access to opportunities available from over 400 other private, public sector and third sector organisations, making it easier to find and bid for opportunities.
  • A smooth transition between procurement and contract management.
  • Direct contact with Fenland District Council's Procurement Team.
