Residents asked to go paperless for Council Tax

Fenland District Council is encouraging local residents to sign-up to receive their Council Tax bills online this year.

Signing up for eBilling allows residents to receive their council tax bill electronically and to access all of their Council Tax and Housing Benefit services online, 24-hours a day and at a time that is convenient for them.

Going paperless also offers environmental benefits with new figures from the Anglia Revenues Partnership, who administer Council Tax and benefits on behalf of Fenland District Council, showing that sending just one paper bill to each of Fenland's 45,000 households' costs £22,500 and uses 90 reams of paper, creating approximately 300kg of carbon emissions.

Cllr Steve Tierney, the Council's Portfolio Holder responsible for Customer Services, said: "Switching to Council Tax eBilling is a great way to reduce the amount of paper you receive, manage your payments more efficiently and presents a secure alternative to traditional paper-based billing.

"While we appreciate that many residents do not have access to a computer or smartphone, and some may simply prefer to receive paper copies of their bills, we would encourage those that have the means to do so to sign up today for hassle-free online Council Tax billing. For those that prefer the traditional paper version, that remains available also of course."

To receive their bill for 2022/23 electronically, residents will need to register via the Anglia Revenues Partnership website by February 18.
