An opportunity has arisen at Fenland District Council for a Workshop Technician

Band 5 - £22,911- £25,295

37 hours per week

Working within a small friendly team the purpose of the role is to inspect, maintain and repair a varied range of commercial vehicles and plant including the Council's own sewage treatment works.

General Duties and Responsibilities

General Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out repairs and maintenance of vehicles, plant and equipment
  • Undertaking routine vehicle servicing, diagnostics and troubleshooting, including vehicle electronic systems
  • Conducting vehicle safety inspections to VOSA standards
  • Self-managing workload, being responsible for arranging or pre-ordering spare parts as required
  • Carrying out repairs and maintenance of the councils sewage treatment works
  • Assisting with an on-call vehicle and plant breakdown cover

Based mostly at the Council's central workshop in March the role will be 37 hours per week working a shift pattern Monday - Friday 0630-1700.

Personal Protective Clothing, power tools and large tools will be provided. You will be expected to provide your own hand tools.
