Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant

As part of the Government announcement on 21 December 2021, business grants of either £2,667, £4,000 or £6,000 are available to businesses registered for business rates operating in the hospitality, leisure and accommodation sectors.

To obtain the grant businesses are requested to confirm that they meet the eligibility requirements and wish to receive the grant. Applications must be received before 28 February 2022. The eligibility requirements are set out in detail within the form referred to below which all businesses are required to complete. In summary, businesses will qualify if they were trading and registered for business rates as at 30 December 2021 and not in breach of limits relating to the total value of grants any one business is permitted to receive as per domestic subsidy control legislation.

Successful businesses can expect to receive their grant within 10 working days

The government has stated that the following businesses are not eligible to receive the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant:

  • retail businesses;
  • personal beauty businesses, i.e. hairdressers, nail salons, tanning parlours, etc;
  • animal boarding facilities; and
  • businesses whose main or only service is take-away food.

The Council is currently consulting with Members on arrangements to establish a scheme to support those businesses which do not qualify for the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant. Details will be announced on the Council's website shortly.
