You may view a map in PublicAccess by selecting the 'View Map' button from the menu bar. An interactive map is also available inside the Property Details section. Using the tools and buttons, both map views provide a number of ways of viewing and querying the local authority map based data.
Map Tools
Using the map tools (the group of 4 buttons located on the top right-hand side of map), you can move around, zoom in and out and identify features.
Map tools are selected by clicking on the relevant button in the map tool bar. When selected, the button will become highlighted to indicate that the tool is active. The tool is then used by clicking on the map itself.
The Zoom In tool can be used either as a zoom box or point zoom. Clicking and dragging (clicking on the left mouse button and holding it down while moving the mouse) on the map allows the user to draw the outline of a zoom box. On releasing the mouse button the map will redraw at the extent defined by the box. Dragging the cursor out of the map area while drawing a zoom box will cancel the request. Alternatively, clicking at a single point on the map will zoom in on that point.
The Zoom out tool will zoom the map out from a single point clicked on the map. The map will zoom out from the location clicked on the map.
The Pan tool is used to move around the map. Clicking and dragging the map with the pan tool allows the user to pick up the map and move it around. On releasing the mouse button the map will redraw at the new extent. Dragging the cursor out of the map area will cancel the pan request.
The Identify tool may be used to select and identify features on the map. A single click on the map, over the appropriate map feature will return the record summary details. Multiple features may be selected by clicking and dragging the identify cursor over the map. The default layer from which the user may select is properties, though this may be modified by selecting to identify from another data layer (e.g. Planning or Building Warrants). This may be achieved through the selection of an alternative feature layer in the options list (visible following the selection of the identify tool).
Following the selection of one or more map features, an identify window will open which contains a summary list of all selected features'. To view the details of a specific record, select the Click to View button. The appropriate record details will now be displayed.
Map Buttons
Using the map buttons (the 2 buttons located on the bottom right-hand side of map), the user may either request to view the map legend or reset the map back to the original view.
The Legend button will open a new window which displays the legend for the map data being displayed on the map.
The Reset button will reset the map back to the original view as it was when the map was first opened. If the map was opened from the 'View Map' option in the menu bar selection of the Reset button will return the view back to the original map overview. Where the map is viewed from within the property detail section, the Reset button will reset the map to recentre on the current selected property.
