Swimming Lessons

Swimming Pool

Fenland Leisure Centres run a range of Swimming Lessons. These include weekly courses for parents and toddlers, juniors and adults.

All teaching is based on the   ASA National Plan for Teaching SwimmingThis link opens in a new window*  - qualified ASA teachers lead all classes.

What is the National Plan for teaching swimming?

The national plan focuses on building water confidence, then developing sound techniques in a range of swimming strokes and aquatic skills.

The junior learn to swim programme is based on Ducklings 4/5 and levels 1-12 form foundation skills to preparation for the competitive training environment for children who may wish to progress to this standard.

The plan also caters for parents and toddlers, Ducklings 1 to 3, giving guidance on introducing very young children to the pleasures of being in the water. Children are assessed at each level and must pass 8 out of 10 skills and strokes to progress to the next level.
