Private Sector Housing
Fenland District Council recognises the importance of decent and safe housing for all residents and for this purpose we have a dedicated Private Sector Housing Service striving to achieve both national standards and sustain efficient, warm and safe homes throughout Fenland.
In order to fulfil these targets the service is responsible for:
- Regulation and enforcement of housing standards in the private sector including Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and HMO Licensing. We also regulate standards within the private sector (Landlords and tenants) to ensure that standards are compliant with those directed under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System.
- Administration of Private Sector Renewal Assistance Scheme (Decent Homes Loan and Minor Works Grants) providing residents with financial assistance to help improve the standard of their home.
- Administration of Disabled Facilities Grants programme to assist with adapting private homes to meet the needs of disabled occupants.
- Regulation and licensing of residential caravan sites, park homes and other sites.
