Housing

Since the transfer of our homes to Roddons the Council retains its statutory strategic housing function including:

  • Working to influence the housing market including maximising new affordable housing delivery.
  • Holding robust housing marketing data to influence future housing development. Working to reduce the number of vulnerable persons living in non-decent private sector accommodation.
  • Dealing with private sector house conditions complaints in accordance with the 2004 housing act.
  • Mandatory licensing of qualifying 3 storeys HMO.
  • Working to reduce the number of empty homes in our district.
  • Delivering a disabled adaptation service to our private sector residents.
  • The delivery of statutory housing options service which seeks to prevent homelessness wherever possible.
  • Monitoring the agreement through Roddons to manage on our behalf the Councils statuary responsibility for allocating affordable homes to residents.
  • Pro-actively influencing the community to make their homes more energy efficient including delivery of a grant service.
  • Monitoring the delivery transfer contract between the Council and Roddons to our former tenants.
  • Attracting in-ward investment from sub-regional, regional and national sources into Fenland through profile raising, evidence gathering and partnership working with sub-regional Councils.
