Grounds Maintenance Contract Opportunity

This webpage is to provide information on the forthcoming tender opportunity for provision of our Grounds Maintenance Contract. The contract will be advertised through the Official Journal European Union (OJEU) but this webpage will give potential contractors the opportunity to ask questions electronically and engage with us prior to the advertising stage.

Fenland District Council provides a broad range of local services to improve the quality of life in and around the Cambridgeshire market towns of Chatteris, March, Whittlesey, Wisbech and surrounding villages. The Council aims to always "put the community first" and has ambitions to develop a wealthy and diverse local economy.

Roddons Housing Association was formed in 2007 following the transfer of 3,754 homes from Fenland District Council and is based in March, Cambridgeshire. In partnership with Fenland they manage grounds maintenance areas to their housing, sheltered housing and property portfolio.

The Parks and Open Spaces Team currently manage 134 hectares of green space throughout Fenland, as well as play areas, skate and BMX parks. We also actively support Wisbech, Chatteris, March, Manea and Parson Drove in Bloom campaigns, and have made successful Green Flag Award applications for Wisbech Park and St Peter's Church Gardens in Wisbech. The team also manage Cambridgeshire County Council highway verges and shrub beds on an agency basis.

The Grounds Maintenance Contract is diverse and covers many areas of expertise such as Spring and Summer bedding, Rose, shrub and Herbaceous bed maintenance, Grass cutting, Play area inspection and maintenance, Sports pitch maintenance, Hedge cutting, Tree Surgery, Hard surface maintenance and Cemetery maintenance including grave digging and interments.

We hope that experienced contractors with a proven track record in public grounds maintenance contracting will engage with us. We would be interested in ideal contract length, TUPE issues, electronic contract management solutions and innovative ways of working. Please note that expressions of interest need to be made at advert stage, this webpage is a forum for exchange of ideas and information prior to tendering. Please email: gmprocurement@fenland.gov.uk
