Local Development Scheme

Introduction

The Local Development Scheme (LDS) is the project plan for the development of the Local Development Framework (LDF). It will inform the public and other stakeholders of the Council’s timetable for producing the LDF over a three-year period.

The LDS serves two main purposes:

  • It provides the starting point for the local community to find out how the District Council intends to develop planning policy in Fenland. It sets out the documents which will form the development plan.

  • It sets out the programme for the preparation of local development document over a three year period including a timetable informing people of how to participate in the process.

The LDS has a time horizon of three years. However it must be reviewed to take account of actual progress being made in the preparation of LDF Documents. In particular any difficulties encountered in their preparation should be set out in the Annual Monitoring Report (AMR) so that a revised LDS can be produced.

Presently the Council is working to the second revision of the LDS which was published in June 2007.
