Local land charges search

Mainly Solicitors and conveyance companies, who act on behalf of purchasers of property and land, use the Local Land Charge service. The Local Search is requested usually when a mortgage is required, although some solicitors will recommend one even if a mortgage is not required, as the Local Search discloses information to a prospective purchaser that affects the property. The Local Land Charges section has to maintain a statutory register which is updated daily to ensure up to the minute details affecting the property, and the section obtains daily relevant information to be disclosed on the Local Search result from other Council departments. A fee is charged for providing a Local Search.
