What does your service offer?
In Fenland we have set up a number of lunch clubs that meet regularly in local pubs. There are currently lunch clubs in
Leverington, Gorefield, Parson Drove, Guyhirn, Fridaybridge and Eastrea. There are also long-established lunch clubs in Wisbech
St Mary and Tydd St Giles.
We have established community car schemes around the district. Leaflets giving details are available in shops, post offices
and surgeries. Nearly all villages in Fenland are now served by a local scheme. Voluntary drivers receive mileage expenses
and new volunteers are always welcome.
Murrow Book Cafe was set up with the help of Care Network in March 2006. Meeting in the Methodist Chapel School Room, the
Book Cafe is open on Thursday afternoons 2-4pm, Tuesday and Thursday evenings 5.30-7.30pm and on the second and fourth Saturdays
of the month from 12-2pm. The Book Cafe offers a free lending library for all ages, light refreshments, a jigsaw exchange
service, storytime, a reading group, regular visits by the Citizens' Advice Bureau and computer training courses for all ages.
Anyone is very welcome to use the Book Cafe - you don't have to live in Murrow and there is no charge.
Stay in Touch is a new telephone contact scheme for older people who have become isolated. The scheme is funded by Help the
Aged and provides regular telephone calls from a trained volunteer. The service offers support, reassurance, a friendly chat

yourself, please contact Care Network for further details.
