How can I dispose of household items that are usable or repairable?
If you have an item which is re-usable or repairable such as furniture with a fire-retardant label intact, building materials, paint, or any white goods or electrical or computer equipment, please keep the item under cover if at all possible, and investigate whether one of our re-use partners will collect the item. It will be repaired as appropriate, and donated or sold at reasonable rates, to benefit local charities that help local disadvantaged people. Please see the contacts under 'Ccorrn' - Cambridgeshire Community Re-use and Recycling Network, accessible from the link on the right.
Some of the organisations may make a charge to cover their collection costs, however this is likely to be less than the cost of a council bulky waste collection.
If you have any queries regarding re-use and recycling of household or electrical items, please contact the Waste Recycling department on 01354 602163, or 'CCORRN' 0845 6027144.
How can I dispose of large household items that cannot be re-used?
If you have a large item such as a piece of furniture or a fridge, etc. you wish to dispose of that is not suitable for re-use or repair, we offer the Bulky Collection Service for large items for which a charge is made. These items are sent to landfill.
When will you collect?
A date will be given to you when you contact us.
Please note that items should be available for collection from 7.00AM. on the day you are told the collection will take place. The items will be collected between the hours of 7.00AM and 5.00PM.
What will you collect?
We will collect household items such as a 3-piece suite (which is classed as three items), carpets, chairs, beds, mattresses etc. We will also collect garden items that can be lifted by the operator and that will not cause any damage to the vehicle i.e. patio furniture, lawn mowers, barbeques.

GENERAL POINTS TO FOLLOW:
- One Carpet must be manageable by 1 person, otherwise it should be cut into pieces, rolled and tied.
- Carpet does not include underlay. This is a separate item.
- Items should not be filled with other rubbish.
- Items must be easily accessible and at one point, not all over the property.
- If 2 identical items are found on site but only one on request, NONE of the items in question will be taken. This is to avoid disposing of the wrong item.
- Only items listed will be removed, any additional items must be arranged on a separate request.
- Once a Bulky Service has been requested and a customer wishes to add an item to the collection 48 hours notice must be given before the collection date and the total amount of goods to be collected must not exceed 3.
- The Council will make a special collection of household waste that cannot be collected using the Bulky Service at an agreed price according to the type and amount of waste.
