Strategic Context

Shaping Fenland’s Future is an overarching objective for the Council that places an emphasis on planning effectively for the future of the district. This will involve working effectively in partnership to ensure that we are achieving the best quality of life for Fenland residents. A key part of ensuring quality of life includes having a buoyant economy and the infrastructure to secure a growing economy. This has a direct impact on all of the other priorities set out in this Corporate Plan.

Local priorities 2008-11

During the course of the next three years the council will prioritise the following issues:

SFF 1 Deliver the Local Development Framework within agreed timescales

What outcomes is the Fenland Strategic Partnership trying to achieve? What FDC will do to help achieve this?
  • Provide an integrated approach to infrastructure and service development needs aligned to projected growth to 2026.
  • Supply of ready to develop housing sites (NI 159)
  • Submit the LDF core strategy to the Secretary of State during 2008
  • Submit the Site Specific Proposals Preferred Options for consultation during 2009

SFF 2 Maintain an effective and high performing Fenland Strategic Partnership

What outcomes is the Fenland Strategic Partnership trying to achieve? What FDC will do to help achieve this?
  • The successful delivery of the Fenland Sustainable Community Strategy, shaping Fenland’s Future Together
  • Deliver and annually update the Fenland Sustainable Community Strategy
  • Establish, deliver and annually update the FSP Communications Strategy
  • Establish, deliver and annually update the FSP Learning Plan
  • Deliver the actions within the SCS that are the responsibility of FDC

SFF 3 Undertake Master Planning of Fenland

What outcomes is the Fenland Strategic Partnership trying to achieve? What FDC will do to help achieve this?
  • This will provide long term economic sustainability aligned to growth across the district
  • Produce an economic appraisal of Fenland
  • Identify key locations for Master Planning
  • Develop detailed master plans for key locations
