Grass Cutting

The Council cuts grass to ensure that people can use roads and pavements safely. Although environmental issues are of paramount concern, grass cutting is actually carried out on highway verges for safety reasons rather than environmental purposes.
How often do we cut the grass?
The Council cuts the grass it owns on a minimum of 18 occasions, throughout the summer months, March through to October, unless the area has been designated a wild flora area.
What will the Council Cut?
We will cut the grass on all council owned land, including:
Highways
Public green spaces
Council housing open spaces
Highway Verges
Parks & gardens
Town centres
Cemeteries & memorial gardens
What grass won't the Council cut?
We do not cut the grass that is:
Privately owned
On properties/estates owned by bodies other than the Council
You can report grass that needs cutting, or telephone 01354 654321 or email parks&greenspaces@fenland.gov.uk.
