Whittlesey Street Pride Group

Meetings take place bi-monthly 7.30pm at the Town Hall Market Street.

The group have been extremely active since their formation.

Regular litter picks are held across the town and the group plant up planters and boats. Previously funding was raised to purchase two wooden benches which are situated at Plough Road.

The siting of a new plough on Plough Road has further improved this area. This project was supported by Cambridge and Peterborough Turf and the local St John Ambulance group are maintaining the area.

All the projects are funded through sponsorship and donations.

There have been a number of  projects completed including;

Planting daffodil bulbs across the town

Half barrel in Eastrea

Guildenburgh Crescent boat

Ramsey Road lay by boat

The Delph area, boats and oak barrels

Windmill /Whitmore Street oak barrels and garden area

Peterborough Road lay by

Station Road boat

Plough at Coates

The Rose Garden, Church Street

The plough on Plough Road

In 2014 the group installed an environmentally friendly picnic bench at Ramsey Road lay by. The group received a grant for this project through the Glassmoor Local Environment Fund.

in 2016, the group were nominated for an award at the Pride in Fenland awards - another example of how group efforts are getting recognised.
