Member Services & Governance Officer

Band 5 - £19,430 - £23,398 inclusive per annum, 37 hours per week, permanent.

This is an exciting opportunity to perform a key role in supporting our 39 elected Councillors in serving Fenland's residents and businesses.

As part of a small, friendly and busy team you will be, amongst other varied things:-

  • Providing  effective administrative support to Member Services, Legal Services, Elections and Land Charges

  • Contributing to the provision of effective support to the Chairman of the Council in relation to civic events and activities

  • Supporting Committee meetings by booking rooms, taking minutes and maintaining records.

  • Providing the effective and efficient first port of call for Members, for their enquiries through a dedicated Member phone/e-mail "hotline".

  • Working as an integral member of the wider team in relation to Elections and Land Charges, supporting electoral registration and major electoral events as required.

  • Supporting the delivery of Freedom of Information requests ensuring the council is compliant with statutory obligations

These varied yet critical areas of work require you to be keen, friendly, committed, self-reliant and hard-working as well as someone who has high standards of accuracy and speed.

You may already be in a similar role, have a good understanding of public services or equally importantly a high level of interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy as well as the ability to work in a politically sensitive environment. You'll already have a positive attitude, "can do" approach, be adept in relation to the use of IT as well as having a passion for making a positive difference.

Occasional evening and weekend working will be required.
