Business sessions launched in Chatteris
The first in a series of free, informative networking sessions designed to help businesses grow and overcome challenges has been hailed a great success.
A total of 18 business attendees took part in the launch event at the South Fens Business Centre in Chatteris on Wednesday, April 25.
Organised by Fenland District Council, Fenland for Business and Opportunity Peterborough, the events will run bi-monthly, offering tailored business support from expert guest speakers as well as informal networking with local businesses and council representatives.
At the launch event, the topic of finance and funding took centre stage with Barclays discussing the European timeline and how businesses can succeed in the current economic climate, alongside a talk from Signpost2grow, a not-for-profit business support service, on grants and alternative funding options for businesses.
Future events will tackle some of the historic and emerging challenges facing Fenland businesses such as skills development, business growth, enhancing productivity, digital media and cyber security.
Kathryn Pollington, Economic Development Officer for Fenland District Council, said: "This was the first event in Chatteris for the business community and we were delighted with the number of attendees.
"We received really positive feedback and are looking forward to our next event which will be held on 27 June.
"We are listening to the business community and these events will reflect that by offering tailored support to help them overcome the challenges they've identified as well as make the most of new opportunities."
The Chatteris series will run separately to the successful, free networking events that Fenland District Council, Fenland for Business and Opportunity Peterborough run every four weeks in Wisbech, in partnership for Link4Growth.
