Have your say on town's proposed neighbourhood plan

March residents are being invited to comment on the town's proposed Neighbourhood Plan in a public consultation that opened today (January 9).

Neighbourhood Plans are a tool introduced by the Government to give local communities more power to influence planning decisions in their area.

The March Neighbourhood Plan is the first to be drawn up in Fenland.  It was submitted to Fenland District Council in November.

The proposed plan is now subject to a six-week consultation that runs until Monday, February 20. It will then be submitted for independent examination and a local referendum.

If it is adopted, it would be considered alongside Fenland District Council's Local Plan and national planning policy when decisions are taken on planning applications within the March Neighbourhood Area. The council is legally bound to give weight to the plan.

All the relevant documents including response forms are available for download on the Fenland website at:

Hard copies are available to view during normal opening hours at Fenland Hall in County Road, the Fenland @ your service shop in Broad Street and March Town Hall in the Market Place.

Completed response forms should be returned via email to or by post to Neighbourhood Strategy (Planning Policy) Team, Fenland District Council, Fenland Hall, County Road, March PE15 8NQ.
