Doddington to host year's first Golden Age Fair

At least 25 organisations providing services for older people will be coming together at the first Golden Age Fair of the year next month (February).

Doddington Golden Age Fair 2014

The fair will be at Doddington Village Hall, Benwick Road, on Tuesday, February 7 (10.30am - 2pm). It is being organised jointly by Fenland District Council and Doddington Parish Council.

Regular participants will include charities such as Age UK, Care Network and Macmillan Cancer Support as well as the Fenland Ferret, which identifies any benefits people may be entitled to claim.

Volunteers from the Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service will be giving over-65s another chance to exchange their old electric blankets for new ones and members of the New Vision Fitness leisure team will be putting on free taster sessions for chair-based exercises.

Councillor Mike Cornwell, the council's Cabinet member responsible for Golden Age said: "Every time we hold these events, people tell us how useful they are, not just for older people themselves but also for their relatives, friends and other carers.

"Our partners include charities and other groups catering for all sorts of needs, so these are great one-stop shops for anyone looking for information and help. So do come along and make the most of what's on offer."
