Watch out for your voter registration form

Canvassers are out and about in Fenland seeking to ensure that the current electoral register is up to date so that everyone who is entitled to vote can do so.

They are hand-delivering forms to all households for residents to check that the information that appears on the register for those living at their address is correct.

It is the first stage in Fenland District Council's annual voter registration canvass. All households should receive a form by around August 12.

Joanne Anderson, the council's elections team leader, said:"As this is an annual canvass all properties need to respond, even if they have recently registered or voted.

"People should look out for the form and respond as soon as possible. It's really important that they check that all the details we hold are accurate and up to date, so that we can make sure that everyone who is entitled to vote is able to do so. Any changes detailed may require further action.

"If you have changed address in the past year, it's particularly likely that you will need to register at your new address. So please check the form as soon as it arrives and return it to us as promptly as possible.

"It's quick and easy to do online, using the instruction on the form. This also helps guarantee that we receive your response in a timely way. You can also respond by post."
