Two fined £220 for littering and parking offences

Two women have each been fined £220 - one for littering, the other for a parking offence.

Info

Victoria Quinn, of Coronation Avenue, Whittlesey, had been seen dropping a cigarette butt in Drybread Road, Whittlesey.

And Jenny Rule, of Treeway, Chatteris, had failed to provide information about the identity of the driver of a car that exceeded the two-hour parking restriction in March Market Place.

Both were convicted in their absence at Peterborough Magistrates Court last Wednesday.

In addition to the fines, each was ordered to pay £75 costs and a £22 victim surcharge.

The cases were brought by Fenland District Council.

Councillor Peter Murphy, the council's Cabinet member responsible for the environment, said: "The regulations are in place for a good reason. I hope these convictions will serve as a warning to others that our Street Scene officers won't hesitate to take action whenever they see them being ignored."
