Spending review: second round of consultation

The second stage of public consultation over Fenland District Council's comprehensive spending review (CSR) was launched today (January 4).

Have Your Say

Residents have the next four weeks to submit comments on the council's pdf icon Draft Business Plan [51kb] and Draft Budget, which sets out its overall priorities for the next three years.

All the responses must be received by February 8. The feedback will be taken into account when the final version is considered at the full council meeting on February 25.

The council's priorities are divided into three general headings: Communities, Environment and Economy. Each one contains a more detailed breakdown of the services which the council intends to focus on.

This survey is the second part of the three-stage consultation process being carried out on the comprehensive spending review. It underlines again the serious financial challenges facing the council as the Government continues to cut the funding for local authorities.

The first stage of the consultation, carried out three months ago, drew more than 6,360 responses. The final stage, to follow later this year, will be on detailed proposals on where to find the necessary savings and how to generate extra income.

The draft business plan and budget can be viewed and comments submitted online.

Hard copies are available at Fenland Hall, County Road, March, PE15 8NQ, and at the council's one-stop shops, community hubs and leisure centres.
