Nominations are now open for the Pride in Fenland 2016 Awards, organised by Fenland District Council in partnership with the Fenland Citizen.

They honour all the selfless work that people of all ages carry out for our communities.

This year's awards are split into four categories:

·                  Good neighbour

·                  Group, club, organisation or charity benefiting the community

·                  Volunteer in the community

·                  Young person (carer or community volunteer)

Councillor Mike Cornwell, FDC's Cabinet member responsible for communities, said: "We are very proud of the high calibre of nominations we have received over the years. The variety of activities carried out and the dedication displayed by the volunteers continues to surprise me. They all fully deserve to have their amazing work celebrated, along with our sincere thanks for what they give back to Fenland.

"So if you know an individual, group or young person who you feel has helped to make Fenland a vibrant, thriving community, or an individual who has made a positive difference to your life, then please nominate them for a Pride in Fenland award so their contribution can be publicly recognised."

All nominations must be in by 5pm on Monday, February 15.

The Pride in Fenland 2016 Awards ceremony will be held at Wisbech St Mary village hall on March 17. Each category winner will receive a prize of £100, a commemorative plaque and certificate.

·         Nominations can be made online or through the Fenland Citizen. Nomination forms are also available in FDC's one-stop shops and community hubs. For more information, call the Community Support team on 01354 654321.
