Cubs bag a load of rubbish

Seventeen cub scouts from Wisbech St Mary bagged 10 bags of rubbish on an enthusiastic litterpick around their village.

The group had contacted Fenland District Council offering to help with Street Pride's work. They worked non-stop for an hour.

Scout leader Andy McAdden said: "The cubs did the litterpick as part of their community badge work. They really enjoyed themselves and we had some good comments from local people - one stopped to say he liked to see the youngsters doing it and donated some money to scout funds.

"We'll do it again with the cubs and maybe get the beavers and scouts involved, too."

The group is based at Barton Crofts Scout Centre in Wisbech St  Mary. It also serves all the villages north of the River Nene, including Guyhirn, Parson Drove, Murrow, Gorefield, Newton, Tydd St Giles and Leverington.
